I teach to others what I have found to work best for myself. My teaching style consists primarily of movements linked to breath.
My classes are known for their intensity, detailed instruction, playfulness, and grace. My intention in every session is to create the space for you to willfully transcend your mind and body, awakening an awareness of the physical, emotional, and energetic centers of your body, for a mutual harmonic vibration. I carefully select music specifically to add to the energy of the class.
Each class will consist of a short meditation period (to cultivate mindfulness), pranayama (breath control to calm the mind and get in touch with the body), warm-ups (to loosen and release tension in the tightest regions of the body), abdominal work (to strengthen the core), Sun Salutations (to rejuvenate and energize the body), standing poses (to increase strength, stamina, and awareness), balancing postures (to aid in mental focus and body coordination), hip openers (to increase suppleness and ease of movement), inversions (to balance hormones and reverse the flow of gravity), positive affirmations, and final relaxation.
I've witnessed first-hand the profound difference that the practice of yoga can make in the life of one who is receptive and open to the many benefits of the practice.
