Maureen-oconnor.jpgI have enjoyed being active all my life. At a young age, I developed a strong interest in fitness that blossomed into wanting to help people improve their level of fitness and overall health leading to increased confidence.  I have been a certified Fitness Instructor for over 30 years, teaching all levels of participants in Hi-Lo Aerobics, Challenge Step, Cardio Kick-boxing, Spinning, and Pilates.  One day on a whim, I stayed after one of my classes to attend a Yoga class.  The moment I focused my attention on my body, my breath and the sensations around this, I experienced an amazing physical, mental and emotional calm.  It is not an exaggeration to say that my life changed on that day.

I practiced for seven years in my hometown in the Midwest, and feel fortunate to now live in Southern California where I have been able to deepen my practice over the past few years.  Yoga is a beautiful and surprising journey that has improved my life immeasurably.  As with all things, I discovered this path, this gift, at the time I was ready to recognize and receive it.  I am grateful to be on this journey.  My passion and deepening understanding of Yoga led to my desire to share my experience with other seekers.  I completed the 200-level teacher training through Cloud Nine Yoga, and am registered with Yoga Alliance.  Now I am able to share my own joy of yoga with students of all ages and abilities. 

My journey has not been a solo one. I am grateful for the many and renowned teachers who have influenced my yoga practice in a positive way.  I now try to give back to the universe by sharing what I have learned.
